Catch up!

We're coming to the close of the Spring Semester in college and it's been one crazy day after another! But I want to go ahead and give you some updates!

My utilitarian project was great and it turned out better than I thought it would. However, I only have photos on my camera and can't get them on the computer. I'll have to swing by and take pictures and post them.

But I've been working on reorganizing our house. I did the bathroom and now I'm working my way through the kitchen. In working on my little shelf nook, I found a glass vase that we got from a friend. It was this ugly yellow color. But I had found a few different blogs that talked about painting mason jars. So, I had the light blue color from my subway art sign and I spray painted it that. So now it looks super awesome and I love it : )

You might not be able to tell that it has some raised parts that make up a flower chain detail. But it looks 1000xs better and now I love it! By the way, the jar next to it is a different way to paint the jar. It's were you use acrylic craft paint and just roll it around in the jar to paint it that color.

Next, my subway art sign that I told you about. Here is the final copy hanging on the wall. I think that it looks pretty good.

And lastly we got a grill. Jamie's been wanting a grill for a while now and we found one that is handy and folds up nicely. I love it and so does he ; ) Especially with all the nice weather we figured it would be worth it. But I just wanted to show you what he suprised me with today...

Isn't he the sweetest? Yes, he sure is! Well, that's it for now! Hope you enjoyed some of these updates : )

Life Changing!

Jamie bought me our first bread machine!!! I love it. I made a loaf yesterday and then another loaf today and then I made jam this afternoon! A-MAZ-ING! I absolutely love it. I don't think it's actually been used before but we scored it in a little hole in the wall were we live for $20. I will never buy bread again. Seriously. It's just that awesome! Plus it makes me feel like Super-Wife. I can be my busy little self and still make bread! Love it. If you don't have one, get one.

You'll have to excuse my little messy counter behind the machine. I haven't gotten to it in my cleaning rampage for the house.

But this is the loaf I made this morning minus a piece or two and my jam is cooling in the fridge. But I'd thought I'd give you a nice little peak at it's handy work ; ]

Temple Trip

Many already know that I'm the 2nd counselor in the Young Womens presidency. I love working with my Beehives! They are a lot of fun. Especially when I get to do awesome things like go to the temple.

It really was a gorgeous day. Especailly once the sun decided to show! I absolutely loved the tulips out in front of the temple. It was rather symbolic now that I think about it. I got a picture of my Beehives during the spring time of their life right next to tulips blossoming in the spring. I don't know maybe I'm a little corny. But they look beautiful nonetheless. : )

A Good Cause

On Friday night, Jamie and I went to an activity that our Relief Society had put together. It was an auction! And all of the proceeds went to the disaster relief efforts for the tornados that went through West Liberty. It was a ton of fun! They had prizes for the kids, raffles, concessions, and lots of free games to keep the kids busy. I loved it! And I think Jamie had some fun of his own : ) Look at all of my treasures! : )))

It took me a while but I finally got some hair care products that came with the bags below and those sunglasses. I forgot to take pics of them but I also got some organic hair shampoo/conditioner!

A very nice punch bowl with 16 round cups and 8 smaller ones : ) It really is a charming set especially all clean like this.

And of course who wouldn't love a wall decor that wonderfully matches their curtains? I did.
But lastly I got a $12 gift card to a salon for $4! Everything was a steal. And all of the proceeds went to a great cause. I think it was a great night!

Moving On...

Jamie and I started looking at houses. It's not the first time that we've taken to perusing the web, but this time we found a perfect house for us. The only thing is that it's back in his home town in Alabama. Yikes! It's not much but it's about 3times the size of our apartment and 3 minutes away from his parents house, in the heart of the town. It's a little old but sturdy. And this is the first time since we got here that I really feel like we could do this and that we need to move on. It's kinda scarry if you think about it. We would be moving 7 hours away, again! But we'd be moving home.

If you know anything about me then you'll know that I've moved around a lot with my family. It's not something that takes too much effort. Just the small ability to leave ties behind. I have gotten good at this. It's kinda sad but the only ties that have lasted me through the ages are from my parents and my sister. Everything else has fallen by the wayside. Not for my husband. He hasn't ever really left home, except to serve a mission. So this has been his first "real", big move. And if you know anything about my husband, you'll know that this move has taken a really heavy toll on him. The only real positive thing has been the military unit he serves with here.

Over the past week we've been on Spring Break! Lots of fun, even though we didn't do anything special. I stayed home all week and took care of some much needed housework. But I'll tell you that it felt really good. :) I got to work on some crafts for the home (I'll post them later) and just really take care of the home like I haven't been able to do. And then to finish it up, we went to the temple. It was a lot of fun to be able to enjoy a great time with my husband and all the youth that we work with. While I was there I was just so happy to have made all the progress that we did for them and to show them a really good time. But it also occured to me that we've made it a long way since we moved here. We've done a lot and grown in a ton of ways. I think that living here has helped us, but it has also taken a huge toll on both of us. We long for the nurture and care and love of home and family. We long for Alabama.

Now, my parents don't live in Alabama anymore, but over the 2 and a half years that we've been married I have come to love my in-laws. They have really taken me in and loved me because I love Jamie and make him the happiest ever. They may not ever replace my parents, but they have certainly become my second-best. They have done a lot for Jamie and me, and it's time to be close to family, close to friends, and active in a community that we can both love.

I hate to say it, but I just get this feeling down deep in my soul that it's time to move on. I'm not even sure that we could make it through another semester to let me graduate with an Associate's Degree. Heck, it's hard enough to get through this one! I just know that when it comes down to it the Lord will prepare a way. He definitely has told me so. I know that He cares for us and loves us and knows how hard it's been for us.

Subway Art

I love subway art. They are lots of fun and really interesting. I don't have a vinyl cutter but I have a few tricks up my sleeves. I am hoping to use modge podge or a transfer gel to get it done. But I'm geting ahead of myself.
I first had to create something that would be a lot of fun and really interesting, so I came up with this. What do you think??

I have the board I'm going to use and now I just have to print it off. But I can't decide if I should keep it black and white or if I want to change up the colors. I thought about keeping the black type with a light blue board and then destressing the edges. How does that sound? It might look something like this:

FHE Idea

So in my wanderings online I think I found a FHE assignment board that I like : ) Maybe it'll even help us to do FHE more regularly.

So what do you think??
