So, Yeah....

I'm sorry ladies! It has seriously been a long time since I updated my blog. I will try to be better at it but don't get your hopes up.

Right now we are in the last months of our college semester and I must say that I can't wait for it to be all over. After this semester is over I will be able to take a well deserved break from school and be able to focus on our home and getting it ready for our little peanut. And I will have finished my Associates and won't have to worry about college for a while. :)

Our little peanut is a GIRL!!!! For those of you who don't know. She is doing wonderful and we will actually go in for our 20 week apointment on Friday :) She has been moving around a lot more this week and it's starting to drive me crazy! In a good way, of course :) But she is so low that everytime she moves around she constantly bumps into my bladder and it just isn't that comfortable to me, imagine that :) We are super excited and I know that it'll go by so fast. But I'll be glad when she's out and about in my arms and as healthy as a baby can be. It's amazing how big I am so far because I already feel way stretched out and I just keep growing.

We are looking forward to Halloween this year! It will be the first year that we dress up as a family. I found my inspiration from this lovely blog. I will definitely add pics later of us all done up for Halloween and at the party later! But for now, that's all I've got :)

Pregnancy Update

So I know that the last post I have is of our little rice baby that you can hardly see and then weeks of nothing. Well, I have come to amend that! : )

As of yet, the pregnancy isn't too rough on me but boy, did I have a week last week! It came in really hard with morning sickness and finally is starting to slow the rush to the bathroom. But it's all very exciting!

This is our most current ultrasound, and man! Look at the difference! This is only two weeks after the first one and you can already see the cute little body! : ) We got to see the heartbeat and at the last apointment the heart rate was up to 183 beats/min. And oh was it loud! No worries with this little one a very strong and nice heartbeat to make us Mommy and Daddy proud already : )

We should go back in the week of September 3 so, cross your fingers and keep us in your prayers! Thank you for all who read this blog. It may be little and at times hard to follow but thank you for helping us feel important.

I'm just hoping that as school starts next week that my all-morning-classes aren't interrupted by frequent bathroom trips : ) Wish us luck on our next few months!

Baby!

Well, guess whats cooking at the Jex family house! That's right, we are having a baby! After 2 years of trying we are finally going to have our wish. I almost can't believe it. Now we need a bigger apartment or house. We're looking for a 2 bedroom if you know anything around here ; ) But there is plenty of time because we aren't due until March. A nice spring baby!

Heres a pic to look at!

This is our rice baby at around 5 1/2-6 weeks!

Testimony Icecream

Whew!!! It's been so long since I posted last. But really those of you who know me and have been following can't really expect anything less ; ) lol.

This Wednesday night is our youth night but it's a special youth night at church. It' our combined--meaning that the young men and young women do something together instead of doing their own things. And it's the girls turn to put it on. Which really means it's the women (their leaders) turn to put this thing on. We decided that we would do a night where we would make icecream and then compare the icecream to a testimony. It's actually really cute and I would love to make a cute little handout to go with it but we'll see (I'm out of paper for my printer). Now all I have to do is figure out the little spiritual part of it and buy the ingredients. Yippee! It's well on it's way.

The best part about it all is that there is only me and the secretary in town to pull this off. The Pres. is on a well needed vacation to family, the other counselor moved, and the secretary is in her 9th month of pregnancy. The only thing I keep thinking is, "Please don't go into labor!" But no matter what, the kids will have a good time. : )

Vacation!

This is exactly how I would sum up our very fine vacation. Rootbeer, sea shells, and peaches. The perfect combo of everything that is essential for a relaxing time. : ))

Enjoy the photos!
Most are taken in the Botanical Gardens in Huntsville, AL. If you've never been you definately should! It can be pricey but if you can afford it, do it. You won't be disappointed.

It's a troll bridge ; )

Me and my sister's kids; love them!

Finished Baby Blanket

And voila! Here is the beautiful masterpiece all finished : )

These photos do not do it justice!
It looks amazing!!! I love that it's done and it looks so bright and comfy : ) I can't wait to see the look on my sister's face. It hasn't frayed as much as it will in the future. But it's still nice and really soft. Ummmm. Scrumptous. : ) Here's the tutorial that I found.
I changed it up a little. I went with the stripes on the front. And it's boy fabric not the girly fabric in the tutorial. But it's the same process. Hope you liked it : )

Sunday Lesson Handouts

Many people who happen upon my blog may not know that I am a member of the Church of Latter-Day Saints--I am. I actually have the wonderful opportunity to work with the wonderful young women in my ward. I actually have the opportunity to teach the lesson this coming Sunday and I made the simplest and cutest handouts to go along with it.

Now, if you are not a member or are not familiar with our church in any way I strongly suggest that you do a little research on lds.org or click my button on the side that'll take you to mormon.org. Otherwise you might not beable to keep up with this post.

My lesson is on temple marriage and I came up with these snazzy handouts to help the girls remember it : )

Front with a slight impression of the temple

and back where you can tell I made it in Sharpie.

I took two cut sheets of sketch paper and on the back I put a silhouette of a temple. I double-sided-taped it to a clean one. and then proceeded to stamp the front with two different sets of stamps I had. Then, I flipped them over and stamped the 'you are the best' to the very back to remind them of how wonderful they are and what state of being they need to be in to go to the temple. : )
Just to finish them up I laminated them with clear packing tape ; ) lol.
Cute, cute!

New Kitchen Lamp!

I'm am pleased to announce that in all of my wonderous efforts and dashing over town today, I scored a Goodwill find! : ) People always talk about finding great stuff at the Goodwill that they shop at, but ours isn't that great and it's fairly pricy for a Goodwill. But nevertheless, you never know when you'll score right? So I was checking to see if I could find a great deal on a new lamp for my kitchen because I had one in there and one in the living room that matched and I was hoping to swap lamps around and put the set in the bedroom. The only thing was I was a lamp short and I didn't want to pay a pretty penny, if you know what I mean ; )
ANYways, I found one and I even talked the lady into giving me the lamp and shade for $2.50 total especially because the bottom was duck tape (I don't care) and the knob to turn on the light was missing. Ha! It totally worked and voila! I knocked off a whole $1.50 off my price [you gotta love the little things in life ; )]! I ran over to Lowes picked up mettalic spray paint and headed for home!

This is what I came home with...

This is the lamp and shade combo I got for $2.50

A close up of the lamp part

A close up of the shade

So now that I had them home I took apart the lamp. It would have been easier if the whole lamp came apart but no. I ended up taping the white glassy part. I was originally going to paint the whole thing but I figured it wouldn't hurt to tape it off and if I didn't like it go back and paint over. Then I wiped it down good and spray painted. Let me tell you. A- always aleast try to scuff up the metal a touch and B- be happy with metalic spray imperfections on metal. I wanted it to be perfect and it wasn't coming out that way and I kept layering it on and I finally got so frustrated with it and myself that I ended up taking the whole thing off and starting over.
Finally, after 2 more hours of taking it off and 2 more hours of putting it back on and together I got the lamp where I wanted it to be. For the shade...that ugly green shade.... well, I completely torn it apart. You see that white color on the inside? It's actually a thin plastic and I took the green and peeled it off of the white. Peeled it completely apart. And then spray adhessived it to a scrap of fabric big enough that I love. It's light blue with a white floral design on it. And Viola!

This is what I got! : )

Keep in mind that the shade is NOT completely finished! I still have to put bias tape around the rims of the top and bottom, but I wanted to show this beauty off!

Not bad for one days work, huh? : )

Headband

So yesterday after I posted I got onto Pintrest. Any of you who have an account know that it is absolutely addicting! But I get lots of great ideas from there. I actually don't just look just because I feel like it but I actually do some of the things that I like on there.  In fact, I found this great tute and I did it this morning! Well, I had to wait until Jamie was gone and I was done with church but I'm totally digging it.

This is the cute side

This is the other side
(Boy, do I look tan! This will be me after Florida ; ))

Another cute-side angle

I love it, but I have to wear it with my hair up otherwise it looks stupid. I have my hair pinned back all crazy and it kina reminds me of Medusa if her snakes stay closed to her head, lol! Now what do you think? Cute right?

PS-Thanks Meg for the pin ; )

And the Summer Begins!

Yay!!!    We are into the summer! And let me tell you we kicked it off with quite a bang!

We started with our finals week, which was crazy hectic! I even missed a final because the teacher AND my calendar said it was on the wrong day [I showed up but no one was there!] And then we had Jamie's graduation : ) I'm so proud of him. It might of only been his Associate's but I don't have to tell you that it's important to celebrate every milestone! And because he was graduating we had his Dad and brother Will in town for the weekend. And it was sad to see them go. : (  But we kept it together because my sister had her Baby #4! Man, oh, man! Didn't I tell you that we kicked it off with a bang! I even have a few things under my belt ; ) I reorganized the pantry/kitchen, including taking off the pantry door to give it more space. And we as a couple are doing awesome exercising everyday so far this summer. That's right, we're gonna get hot sexy beautiful skinny people! : ))
And best of all! I'm now making a wonderful baby quilt for my new nephew! Aren't I just a wonderful Aunt?! lol. So to give you a taste of what the blanket will look like is this picture and link ; )

found here!

Obviously, I'm not using those colors but that is the tutorial that I found and it is what I'm basing my actual blanket on. Pretty cute, huh?

Be sure to keep up with us over the next month every week I'm going to be posting about my crafts and fun things we're up to ; ) And I'll be sure to up date ya'll on how our vacation goes in two weeks! We are super excited and we can't wait to get on the road and visit our favorite places in the world! Alabama and Florida! Be sure to check back in with me soon!

Catch up!

We're coming to the close of the Spring Semester in college and it's been one crazy day after another! But I want to go ahead and give you some updates!

My utilitarian project was great and it turned out better than I thought it would. However, I only have photos on my camera and can't get them on the computer. I'll have to swing by and take pictures and post them.

But I've been working on reorganizing our house. I did the bathroom and now I'm working my way through the kitchen. In working on my little shelf nook, I found a glass vase that we got from a friend. It was this ugly yellow color. But I had found a few different blogs that talked about painting mason jars. So, I had the light blue color from my subway art sign and I spray painted it that. So now it looks super awesome and I love it : )

You might not be able to tell that it has some raised parts that make up a flower chain detail. But it looks 1000xs better and now I love it! By the way, the jar next to it is a different way to paint the jar. It's were you use acrylic craft paint and just roll it around in the jar to paint it that color.

Next, my subway art sign that I told you about. Here is the final copy hanging on the wall. I think that it looks pretty good.

And lastly we got a grill. Jamie's been wanting a grill for a while now and we found one that is handy and folds up nicely. I love it and so does he ; ) Especially with all the nice weather we figured it would be worth it. But I just wanted to show you what he suprised me with today...

Isn't he the sweetest? Yes, he sure is! Well, that's it for now! Hope you enjoyed some of these updates : )

Life Changing!

Jamie bought me our first bread machine!!! I love it. I made a loaf yesterday and then another loaf today and then I made jam this afternoon! A-MAZ-ING! I absolutely love it. I don't think it's actually been used before but we scored it in a little hole in the wall were we live for $20. I will never buy bread again. Seriously. It's just that awesome! Plus it makes me feel like Super-Wife. I can be my busy little self and still make bread! Love it. If you don't have one, get one.

You'll have to excuse my little messy counter behind the machine. I haven't gotten to it in my cleaning rampage for the house.

But this is the loaf I made this morning minus a piece or two and my jam is cooling in the fridge. But I'd thought I'd give you a nice little peak at it's handy work ; ]

Temple Trip

Many already know that I'm the 2nd counselor in the Young Womens presidency. I love working with my Beehives! They are a lot of fun. Especially when I get to do awesome things like go to the temple.

It really was a gorgeous day. Especailly once the sun decided to show! I absolutely loved the tulips out in front of the temple. It was rather symbolic now that I think about it. I got a picture of my Beehives during the spring time of their life right next to tulips blossoming in the spring. I don't know maybe I'm a little corny. But they look beautiful nonetheless. : )

A Good Cause

On Friday night, Jamie and I went to an activity that our Relief Society had put together. It was an auction! And all of the proceeds went to the disaster relief efforts for the tornados that went through West Liberty. It was a ton of fun! They had prizes for the kids, raffles, concessions, and lots of free games to keep the kids busy. I loved it! And I think Jamie had some fun of his own : ) Look at all of my treasures! : )))

It took me a while but I finally got some hair care products that came with the bags below and those sunglasses. I forgot to take pics of them but I also got some organic hair shampoo/conditioner!

A very nice punch bowl with 16 round cups and 8 smaller ones : ) It really is a charming set especially all clean like this.

And of course who wouldn't love a wall decor that wonderfully matches their curtains? I did.
But lastly I got a $12 gift card to a salon for $4! Everything was a steal. And all of the proceeds went to a great cause. I think it was a great night!
