In the chaos of it all...

So, this weekend we helped some of our friends move into their new apartment. It was a lot of fun and we're super glad that they are finally getting settled in. : ]
Also this weekend, Jamie and I setup and decorated my new "inspiration room."  It looks super snazzy with my art all over on the walls and christmas lights on the perimeter of the ceiling. I love it!!! Every time that I come into it, it reminds me of my wonderful husband that I couldn't live without. He is the best, and I feel for all you other women because you missed out on him. He truly is my FAVORITE ; ]......At any rate, he set up my sewing machine and got out all my art supplies so that I could start working on some awesome projects. The kinds of projects that can occupy most of my free time while he is gone. I think that I might be able to manage.

Oh yeah! If ya'll have any patterns for super cute and easy skirts then comment about them and link me up! Right now I'm going skirt crazy and I'm making skirts for church as well as everyday! But especially everyday. So, just tell me about them if you know any!

Journals

Today was the first time in a month and a half that I wrote in my journal. Yeah! I feel accomplished. It was a very pleasant time this morning, aside from the cat deciding that she could settle herself right on top of were I was writing.

So, Jamie got a call today that told him that he and the other two guys signing up will be leaving on Wed. to go to West Virginia to do all of their sign up stuff. He'll be gone over night and they will pay for his room and transportation there.

We've fixed our fans in our car and now all we have to do is fix the water pump in it. On the plus side, we found someone who will fix it for less than $100. And that includes the water pump that we have to buy.

All in all, I feel like today as been a lot of accomplishments. Now all I have to do is the dishes and make dinner. Woo-hoo!

The Kitten

As many of you know, we have a kitten. Her name is Tabby, short for Tabitha, and she is just the cutest 10- or 11-week-old kitten that you ever did see. The biggest problem that we have with her is that she uses her claws way too fervently! Any time that she plays at all, she uses them. Usually we stay pretty clear of them, we've learned a lot about that. But not this morning. We have a rug down on the kitten floor that she likes to play with, especially while I'm standing on it. This morning, she was having just a grand ol' time. Till she clawed my toe and drew blood! Yeah, so now she's being punished in her carry case and I'm blogging with my toe all band aided up. Well, Jamie and I have decided that once she gets old enough we will be de-clawed.

A Full Weekend

Wow, I can't believe that I haven't blogged since Thursday!

Well, maybe life isn't as bad as it seems sometimes. Yesterday we had another member look at our car and see what was wrong with it. He told us that it looked like to him that the biggest reason that it was messing up all comes from the fans. Which we knew, but he seems to think that if we fix the fans that it might fix the problem. Yeah!!! So, we have him scheduled to come by today, or as soon as he can, to fix our car for us. I'm so excited and I just pray that we do get it all fixed and that it doesn't cost us too much to repair. Because heavens knows that it would be somewhat hard to come up with the money.

Also on the good side, after we gave our talks in Sacrament meeting yesterday, we started talking to the wife of one of the members in the Stake Pres. Apparently there is a big demand for an affordable photographer! I had recently entertained the thought that I could do some photos on the side for some extra money. In order for me to truly be able to do that, I'm going to need some constructive criticism from as many people as see this blog. So, go to my webs-site and see what you think!

ShaZAM!

I went over the deep end today and into all of my photoshop photos. It got a little crazy at times, but I really love most of the results. I used the ShaZAM technique, that I sadly cannot claim, and got some amazing results. These are some really old photos, but I thought they could always stand to be spruced up. Here you go!

Humility

I completely understand that Heavenly Father gives us things to make us humble and realize that we wouldn't be able to do things with out him. Really, I don't mind that much. I just wish that it was a more once-in-a-while sort of thing instead of an every-other-day sort of thing. I do really appreciate all of the help that we receive from him and everyone here, but sometimes I wish that we didn't need it so much. lol.

On the plus side of things, I found this great site that allows you to read copyrighted material. The only problem is that you can only read as much as the copyrighter will allow. So, right now I'm reading "Along For The Ride" by Sarah Dessen and it's great, but every 5 pages or so it skips 2 pages. That's the only downfall, but I'll take it. It's the closest thing that I could find anywhere that would let me even read part of the actual novel. It's my new favorite site!

Exercise

So, I got the wonderful opportunity of going and tagging along for the ride today with Jamie and his workout. We went and ran a couple of errands today before going and chilling with our go-to-guy, Jeremy. We hung out there for a little while before we got the rest of the stuff done for the National Guard. Around 5 we actually went and did some running, at a cemetery no less. It was actually pretty fun! Especially considering that we got a ton of free-bes from our hook-up in the military district. Now I have plenty of tees that I can wear to work out in. Yay! :]

So all in all it's been a very nice and productive day. I'm just glad that we're now home and fed. I'm kinda worn out! I don't know how he does it! I love this man ; ]

Free Time

So, it looks like I will have a lot of free time on my hands coming up. Jamie just found out that we don't really get anything extra for going to LTC and so he got it set up to be going to basic and his AIT training starting in August. The only down side to that is that he'll be gone from Aug. to Dec.! Wow, that's a lot longer than I was really planning on, but I think I can make it. Anyways, if you have any suggestions on how to spend my time, just leave me a comment. I'm all ears. lol ;]

Heroes

My definition of a hero would have to be the everyday people who soldier on taking all of the obstacles that come their way. Especially the trials that rend them hopeless, even if they're only hopeless for a second.
My very favorite hero would have to be my husband, because he works so hard for us, for our family. Today he just got some very awful news. Well, its not the end of the world, but considering we found out that we need to be looking for a new car....lets just say that it was not helpful at all. I'm just glad that we have the Lord on our side, helping and supporting us through it all. I'm so proud to call him my husband and to be able to face all of our challenges that we do with him by my side.

He is my hero. And there's nothing that we cannot do with the Lord on our side.

Wow...

Okay, so yeah.  Jamie and I just had dinner with one of the other ROTC guys and his wife. They are really pleasant and we had a really good time.  But now I'm all tired and full, and it doesn't help that my computer is being lame.

Well, let me start at the beginning. This morning we were doing really good.  We were even some-what on time for church! Then it happened. Our car broke down. Yep. Thankfully we got a ride to church. Once there we found some people who could help us with our car situation as much as anybody could. They gave us a ride to our car and followed us home. They even checked it out and found out that basically we need a brand new engine. Nice. So, instead of taking the bonus that Jamie gets from completing his LTC and using it for rent, we are going to see if it'll buy us a nice somewhat new car.

On the plus side, the guy who fixed our car could also put in a good word for me at Lowes. I'm so excited about that job prospect. In fact, I even started the application today. Hopefully I'll get a call sometime soon within the next few days.

Wish us luck!

Fabuloso

So in my ongoing quest for a job in our new little town, I have managed to apply at two different Dollar General stores. It's the same application, but it is two separate ones for each store. It's just an extremely tedious process and it makes me miss my awesome job at ALDI in Decatur.

On the plus side though, Megan showed me where she got her ShaZAM technique and I must say that it totally rocks! Here is my favorite ShaZAMed picture so far. I think it's pretty nifty. She also showed me where to go to spice up my blog, as you can see. Oh, but I'm not done yet. I still have to add a couple of things before my blog is yet complete. And then by the time it's complete, I'll be looking for a new design so that I can start all over. lol!

Anyways, thats really it for now. Just hope and pray that I can find a job soon. : }

Sweet Biffey!!!

So, I'm actually really excited about my new blog! Even though it's basic on the design and every thing I must say that I'm feeling pretty spiffy about my ingenious header there. I mean its nothing compared to Megan's but at least I did it all on my own. And I mean on my own because Jamie doesn't know a thing about how I did it or even how to make another star appear on the other side at the bottom. It did baffle me I must admit, but I finally decided on something I like. Hoorah!

Oh, if anyone has any tips on how to get the pictures where you want them in the post instead of just at the top, then leave me a comment. I know its probably pretty simple, but for the life of me I just couldn't figure it out.

Well, I just had to give myself props, but let me know if you have tips on the picture thing! Toodles! :]

A little about us...and our move

My name is Rebecca, aka Becks, and my husband is Jamie, aka Jex. We are a newly-wedded couple and we just made our first big step into the great unknown. After we got married back in December, Jamie and I have been living quite close to our parents, both sets. We just made the big move to Kentucky last Tues! We are so excited to be out and on our own. But I'll tell you, we got off to a pretty rocky start. Let me start from the very beginning.

Before we got married we were looking at our options on what to do for a living. Jamie in his pondering asked a good family friend, Momma Gardener, what she thought he should do. She in her infinite wisdom advised him about a wonderful college that her son, Kurt, went to and about the wonderful scholarships from the Army ROTC program. Since then we've been trying to pursue this dream and hope for our future.

In doing our homework for moving up to KY, we were able to visit this wonderful state back in February. While we were here, we toured the campus and looked at the different programs that we might be studying in. During this time, we fell in love...with the place that is! Well, he fell in love and I just increased in love. So, we decided to move up here and at the end of May we got our chance.

Now, for those of you that don't know my husband, his luck is either a 6 or a 1 on a die roll. That was definitely apparent on our move up. We had packed our things and gone over to my parents in Scottsboro. The morning of our move we left from their house to go up from there, figuring that it would make it slightly easier on us since we have a kayak strapped to the roof and a bike attached to the trunk of our Dodge Stratus. About 2 or 3 hours into our 7 hour drive, our car starts to warm up. So, we pull over and we check out the water levels, but its all OK and we start off again. Back on the highway it starts getting warmer and then it tips into the red for the heat. "Oh poo!" is all I can think as not but 2 miles more along the highway we pull over again. This time we check everything, the oil, the water, the transmission fluid. We fill up everything and we try again. Nope! We end up pushing it as we get to the next exit and we finally make it to a garage. Thank heavens the guy was absolutely the nicest mechanic. He worked on our car for about an hour and deduced that it was probably a cracked head gasket and filled our engine back up with water. The man, who at this point is my saving grace, didn't charge us anything for all of the hard work done. And I'd like to add that our kitten didn't help the hour of waiting because the whole time she was trying to escape from our car. Thank goodness we finally get to go on the road, and we thought that we were in like Flin when all of the sudden it started doing it again. The mechanic told us that if it did it again to just fill it up with water the same way he did. All in all, our move took a whole 13 hours instead of the 7 that it was supposed to take. Wow, isn't he a lucky guy?

But I really can't complain too much, because he did get us the ability to camp at a state park with out paying for it. We arrived at the campsite too late to register and we left too early to register that morning either. When we didn't receive any citation we figured it was definitely a blessing from Heavenly Father. We were even more blessed to be the first people at our new land lord's office because we were very lucky to get one of the last places that he had for rent. Don't get me wrong, it is a very nice place and we LOVE it, but there was a flood a few weeks ago and all of the victims who lost their homes are now renting. So it was an absolute steal. We even had 3 people come in while we were going over the lease! But were able to move in that day and it actually feels nice and cozy. When I find up my camera I'll post some pictures, but for now this will have to do.
